CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY AND  CAPTURE AND RELEASE THERAPY

Let's talk about hypnosis for a minute.

Hypnosis, as you probably know, is a direct communication with the Unconscious Mind. The problem is that most of us don't know much about hypnosis except perhaps what we have seen on the stage.  Here are some of the comments I have heard about hypnosis:

          *  I've seen television programmes and films where

they used hypnosis and I don't like the idea of

someone else being in control of me.

          *  My friend was told she would quit smoking: after one

session she would never smoke again, and now she

smokes just as much as she always did.

          *  I am afraid that under hypnosis I would give up

secrets I wouldn't want anyone else to know.

          *  How do I know I wouldn't remain in a trance forever?

These are reasonable and very real fears.  But you see..............

Clinical Hypnotherapy isn't like that at all!

First of all and most importantly:

NO-ONE CAN MAKE YOU DO ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO DO WHILE YOU ARE UNDER HYPNOSIS!

IF YOU ARE IN A TRANCE AND A SUGGESTION IS PUT TO YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH, YOU WILL COME OUT OF HYPNOSIS STRAIGHTAWAY.

Secondly:

All hypnosis should be carried out with the addition of "conscious" sessions, in which you, and the therapist, can outline your goals, test your possible resistances, and build your faith in the therapy.

You never relinquish executive control.

To go back to the beginning...your habits/fears/resistances are all stored in your Unconscious Mind.  They have become comfortable there over the years.  Ordinary therapy can only ever work with the conscious mind - through cognitive retraining (thinking about a situation, recognising it,  and learning to react differently in future), or behaviour modification (recognising and removing "trigger" situations, and replacing them with different reactions). Medication might be suggested, and sometimes might be needed.  All of these may be necessary, even helpful in their own ways, but without direct contact with the unconscious which is storing the problem, they may, ultimately, be unsuccessful. All conscious therapies are future directed: they do not get - perhaps almost literally -  to the Root of the Problem. That is why they often fail.

Once again, you are back where you started.

Clinical Hypnotherapy brings these insights to the surface in your conscious thoughts and actions.  Cognitive Repatterning helps you to deal positively with negative thoughts and anxieties that have been holding you back. Once you can recognise these, you can free yourself forever from the tyranny of the Ego and move forward, renewed, and released.

Capture and Release Therapy is a unique combination of hypnotherapy and many different other psychotherapies which include Existentialism, Humanistic Psychology, Jungian Analysis, an understanding of Enneagrams, Aaron Beck's Cognitive Retraining, Eric Berne, psychodynamic theory and deep Ego Strengthening techniques designed to allow your true self to pass through and be heard.

It is an acceptable and appropriate form of therapy for a wide range of difficulties, from smoking, and phobias, to learning difficulties (see also Headstart Learning Centre), marital and relationship difficulties, and many more.  A detailed inventory is taken at the outset of all courses of therapy which enables the client to determine the desired outcome of treatment, and the therapist to gain a better understanding.  It is affordable, personal, and ultimately, very satisfying.

Instant cures are not promised, but neither should you expect to have years, even months of therapy.  Most difficulties can be dealt with successfully in 5 or 6 sessions.
