A CHANCE FOR A LIFETIME!
It's so easy for children to slip behind in school: an illness, or a concept not quite grasped can lead to skill gaps which will only widen as time goes on.
This is where we come in.
Each child has his or her own "Prescription for Learning", based upon a set of initial tests to determine both academic and cognitive abilities, and areas of weakness. These can include testing for special needs such as Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorders. No two children will be working on the same programme because no two children are alike. What this means is that basics are reinforced at the same time as specific problem areas are addressed. Once a child begins to realise that he can do it after all, his self-confidence will do the rest.
It's a Win-Win situation!
Learning Difficulties and Differences
Some children simply find it harder than others to keep up. It seems that no matter how much homework they do, they just can't seem to get ahead. The school curriculum is set up in such a way that certain subjects must be covered in certain periods of time. Inevitably, someone will get left behind. Is that Someone your child?
Once again, we can determine if there is a specific learning disability (SLD) which is at the core of the problem. This could be Dyslexia, or one of the Attention Deficit Disorders. It is now known that children with ADHD have areas in the brain which simply do not mature as fast as children who do not have this type of learning difficulty. Furhermore, Dyslexic children need to learn different methods to help them to do their best. Not all classroom teachers are equipped - or have the time - to help your child in this way.
That's where we come in. We work on a one to one basis to help your child find out his or her own personal learning style, both with classroom work and homework, and additional work where necessary.

Children and Clinical Hypnosis
On occasion, a child's school problems may be only one aspect of an underlying fear or trauma. These days, many children have to grow up too soon: a move, a divorce, bullying, new sibings or half-siblings...all of these can lead to a feeling of insecurity: "Who am I, and Where do I belong?"
In cases like this, Clinical Hypnotherapy can help. Though hypnotherapy is not a first course, children, especially under 14 years, are quite susceptable to hypnosis and can benefit enormously from it, most especially when their self-esteem is damaged. Older children can benefit from learning relaxation techniques such as self-hypnosis, and in some cases such as exam phobia, maths phobia, or school phobia, clinical hypnotherapy has been found to be extremely effective and entirely non-intrusive.
